Plan Optik übernimmt MMT mehrheitlich

With the takeover of MMT Plan Optik is strengthening its activities in the field of microfluidics systems. MMT offers a comprehensive product portfolio in the field of microdosage pumps and specific expertise for the manufacture of active biochips and complex microfluidics installations. The products are employed in various branches including the chemical and pharmaceutical industries as well as bio- and nanotechnology. In the medical technology sector, for example, MMT supplies high-precision microdosage pumps for the temporary support of cardiac activity.

MMT ideally complements the core business of Plan Optik. For many years Plan Optik has been marketing microstructured wafers, which are used in microfluidics systems as well as in other applications. Moreover, the Plan Optik subsidiary Little Things Factory GmbH manufactures complete microreactors and thus its own microfluidics components. With the takeover of MMT the Plan Optik group can now supply its own complete microfluidics systems and is thus one of the first suppliers to offer a complete range.

"Since microfluidics is being used increasingly in applications in the fields of chemistry and medicine, we are counting on strong growth in this area," explained Michael Schilling, sole chairman of Plan Optik. MMT and the Little Things Factory currently achieve a joint annual turnover in the region of one million euros. "In a few years we hope to achieve with our subsidiaries MMT and Little Things Factory a business volume and growth rates in the field of microfluidics which are comparable with our previous core business."
